A well-known monument at Bellefontaine. Mr. Luyties was a prominent St. Louis druggist, who traveled to Italy and fell for this pretty young thing, a sculptor's model. She resisted his blandishments, so he brought the marble her back to St. Louis and she eventually ended up adorning his tomb. To prevent her from suffering weather damage, a glass door was fitted to the front of her alcove. It isn't easy to see in this picture but it is there.
