On the steps leading up to the Rialto Bridge.
Its distinctive shape has made the Rialto Bridge over the Grand Canal famous. It is always crowded with people.
While standing on the Rialto Bridge, I saw this intriguing sign. My Italian is rudimentary but I think it says "No mafia, Venice is sacred." Curious about it, I Googled it when I got home. It seems to date from several years ago when there was a huge corruption scandal and the mayor was arrested. Earlier photographs of the sign show it reading "Stop Mafia, Venice is sacred." For that matter, there used to be an exclamation point after Mafia! which has mysteriously disappeared. I also learned that this sign is so much of a "thing" that you can buy coffee mugs and T shirts with this on it.
